Overview
We are looking for a motivated Research Fellow to take part in the international Project Solution4Farming (S4F) (https://www.eragas.eu/en/eragas/Research-projects/Solution4Farming.htm), which aims to provide solutions for GHGs emissions mitigation for the mixed farming systems across different European climates while increasing circularity.
The position in the project Solution4Farming (PCI2021-122031-2A) is funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 (Spain) and the European Union's NextGenerationEU/PRTR, Horizon2020 Research & Innovation Programme under grant agreement No 696356. The research will be performed at Technical University of Cartagena, Spain.
Role
The researcher will work on (i) the evaluation of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) strengths and limitations in representing mixed crops and livestock farming systems; (ii) the development of a conceptual LCA framework to evaluate the footprint of linear vs. circular systems across different European climates; (iii) the generation of open LCA inventories and databases. The researcher will also contribute to the data collection of the experimental pilot#2 in Spain, in which a trial will be conducted to measure GHG emissions from mixed crops and livestock farming systems. The candidate is expected to publish in international peer-reviewed journals and present research results at scientific and project meetings.
Qualifications
Bachelor/Master degree in environmental/agricultural or related sciences.
Proficiency in the English language, both spoken and in writing, and preferably knowledge of Spanish.
Background in Life Cycle Assessment and experience working with openLCA or SimaPro software.
Experience working in international science projects and meeting project deadlines.
Programming experience is desirable, preferably Python.
Terms of employmentStart date: Preferably before September 2022.
Duration: 18-24 months.
Salary: The salary group is assigned depending on candidate qualifications.Candidates must fulfil the following requisites and conditions:
Have Spanish nationality or be a national of any of the other member states of the European Union, or a national of those countries which, by virtue of International treaties signed with the European Union and ratified by Spain, enable the free movement of workers in the terms established in which the constitutive Treaty of the European Community has been defined. The spouse, of whatever nationality, of Spanish persons or nationals of other member states of the European Union may also apply, provided that they are not legally separated and their descendants and also those of the spouse, provided that they are not legally separated, are under the age of 21 years or older than that age but are dependent. Likewise, foreigners will be able to participate who, although not included in the previous paragraphs, legally reside in Spain, and are in possession of the documents that habilitate them to reside and access the labour market without restrictions.
