Project description: The aim of the project is to determine the brain area innervated by antennal olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs). The work involves single-sensillum electrophysiology, immunolabeling and 3D reconstruction with laser confocal microscopy.
Test animals are moth species from stablished laboratory cultures. Electrophysiology and immunolabeling will be performed at the laboratory of Insect Chemical Ecology in the Department of Crop and Forest Sciences at the University of Lleida. Laser confocal microscopy will be carried out at the Microscopy Unit in the Biomedical Research Institute of Lleida (IRB-Lleida).
Duration: 11 months
Funding: National Research Grant Program (Spain)
Pay: 21.000 € gross salary for the 11-month period

Requirements:
Ph.D. degree in biological sciences, medicine or related fields, a publication record and good English communication skills
Experience in neurobiology, immunostaining and confocal microscopy, electrophysiology, chemical ecology or entomology are highly valued.
