Applications are invited for a a CIBER-BBN funded postdoctoral researcher in Microarray Technology for Glycoscience, a position based at the Glycotechnology Laboratory, CIC biomaGUNE in San Sebastian, Spain. We are looking for an experienced researcher to assist our microarray unit in a number of clinical and academic projects in functional glycomics. This unit manages the synthesis, isolation and derivatisation of glycans and lectins, surface functionalisation of custom-made slides, the printing of designer microarrays and their application in protein interaction and enzyme activity assays.
The contract is initially for 1 year but an extension is possible and subject to positive performance reviews and available funds. Tentative start date: August 2019
Specific duties:
- Preparation of glycan lectin and polysaccharide microarrays
- Application of glycan and lectin arrays in a cancer biomarker study
- Application of lectin arrays for bacterial detection
- Assistance in the development of a specific data analysis application (in collaboration with software engineers)
Requirements:
- PhD in analytical chemistry, carbohydrate chemistry, biochemistry or pharmacy,
- Track record of independent research achievements (publications, patents, conference contributions)
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Chemo-enzymatic synthesis of oligosaccharides, Microarray technology, Recombinant protein expression
- Fluent English, written and spoken
- Additional experience in mass spectrometry, bioconjugation techniques and statistical data analysis is appreciated
