Looking for candidates to ask for a Juan de la Cierva fellowship

Our group is looking for motivated candidates to work on receptor-binding and endolysin proteins of bacteriophages.
We study these proteins at molecular and atomic level, solving their atomic structures. We also study how they bind their receptors and substrates and make mutants to try and change their selectivity.

Due to the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, the interest in alternative methods to detect and kill bacteria has augmented. One option is using bacteriophages and the proteins they use to recognize and kill their host bacteria. However, to do this a molecular and atomic understanding of their structure and function is necessary.
