Research description:
The laboratory of Dr. Fumiichiro Yamamoto, Ph.D., a Senior Group Leader at the Institute of Predictive and Personalized Medicine of Cancer (IMPPC), Badalona, Barcelona, Spain, is seeking for an energetic student with high motivation to conduct his/her Ph.D. research.

The laboratory has played a major role in the elucidation of the molecular genetic basis of the histo-blood group ABO system and the structural basis of the A and B glycosyltransferases. The current topics of interest include t studies on the functionality of glycosylation polymorphisms in various physiological and pathological phenomena, including pancreatic cancer. The project for which the student is sought is focused onto the identification and validation of glycosylation-related genetic and epigenetic markers for early diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction of cancer within the Genomics and Epigenomics of Cancer Prediction Program. Utilizing in-house resources and services available at the DNA bank and Genomics Units of the institute, we aim to attain this goal and translate the knowledge from the research into future predictive medicine of cancer.
