The group of Dr. María Giménez-López, ERC Starting Grant holder and Ramón y Cajal Researcher, is seeking for 4 PhD candidates with strong interest in Chemistry and/or Nanomaterials Science to carry out research at the FunNanoMatLab at CiQUS.
This appointment forms part of the cutting-edge project ERC-StG NANOCOMP, funded by the European Research Council (ERC).
Description
The primary goal of NANOCOMP is to develop a new class of hybrid metal-carbon nanomaterials that will be able to function as model systems to study frontier concepts for variety of applications ranging from spintronics to energy-related applications. Understanding and controlling the effects of confined species on the carbon nanocontainers, is the main vector of fundamental research of this project. The applicant will work on the preparation, characterization and applications of novel hybrid carbon nanostructures incorporating functional nanoscale species.
Requirements
We seek outstanding individuals awarded with a Master degree in Chemistry or a relevant subject area with initiative, creativity and team-working ability to work in a dynamic environment to demonstrate opportunities in the field of energy and spintronics.Experience in inorganic/materials chemistry, synthesis of ligands, magnetism and/or electrochemistry will be highly considered. Good communication skills and proficiency in written and spoken English are essential.
