Professor Marco Garrido-Cumbrera, from the Department of Physical Geography and Regional Geographical Analysis at the University of Sevilla, welcomes postdoctoral candidates interested in applying for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PF) in 2024 at this University. Please note that applicants must comply with the Mobility Rule. 

Brief description of the institution: 

The Universidad de Sevilla (USE) was established in 1505 and, with more than 70000 students and 6800 staff, is the third largest university in Spain. US embraces academia, industry, engineering and science and, with a relevant educational and technological infrastructure, is an intellectual reference in the South of Europe. 

More than 10000 students are following postgraduate courses, enrolled into 86 master programs and 152 doctoral programs. And the university holds academic partnerships with 850 institutions throughout the world. 

US is also devoted to research and innovation; therefore, in addition to its 4300 academic staff, there are 1600 researchers and over 470 scientific groups associated to the university. Research is carried out within academic departments, in 8 research centers and 9 university research institutes. 

Research facilities offer highly advanced research services at the Center for Research, Technology and Innovation (CITIUS) that provides the most advanced and state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation and techniques to research groups, public research institutes and industries This is complemented by important national research centers such as the Institute in Mathematic Research (IMUS), the Biomedicine Research Institute (IBIS), the National Research Center for Accelerators (CNA) and the Institute of Microelectronics (IMSE-CNM). 

Brief description of the Centre/Research Group:

Health & Territory Research (HTR) ( of the University of Seville is an innovative, international and interdisciplinary research group made up of geographers, urban planners, environmentalists, psychologists and statisticians, who research on urban health and its socioeconomic, environmental and spatial factors. HTR specializes in conducting representative surveys, statistical data analysis, field studies and the use of spatial analysis tools, which contribute to the creation of scientific evidence and its dissemination through high impact publications. We also have experience working with important partners in public administration, private companies, scientific societies and patient associations.

Project description:

Despite the important role of urban green and blue spaces and protected natural areas in the maintenance of human health and well-being, the health field hardly applies these benefits in its clinical practice. This project aims to create strong partnerships between the conservation and health sectors to contribute to the improvement of mental health and well-being of people in need, with a social science perspective.

IMPORTANT: Applicants should check their elegibility to apply to the MSCA PF 2024 Call:

Any nationality (European Fellowship) / European national or long-term resident of a Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country (Global Fellowship)
Be in a possession of a doctoral degree (PhD)
Have a maximum of 8 years full-time equivalent experience in research, measured from the date of award of the doctoral degree
Comply with the mobility rule: not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain (for European Postdoctoral Fellowships), or in the country of the host organisation for the outgoing phase (for Global Postdoctoral Fellowships) for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the call deadline.
