Contrato predoctoral

We are looking for a motivated PhD student to join our research group at the University of Alcalá.

Application deadline: May 31, 2024
Funding: University program promoting research excellence (FPU-EXCELENCIA).
Duration: 3 years, with possible extension to a 4th year.

Applicant Requirements:
Average Bachelor grade ≥ 7.12/10
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related
Master of Science in Chemistry or related
It is possible to apply during the last year of Master studies.

Research Lines
Different research lines are available:
• Design of novel molecular solar thermal systems,
• Photoinduced hydrogen production,
• Protein/drug and nucleic acid/drug interactions

Methodology:
The PhD project is oriented toward the application of computational chemistry methods (from high-level quantum chemical predictions of small molecules to molecular dynamics of large biomolecules) including the possibility to synthesize and characterize experimentally feasible compounds.

Collaborations:
Collaborations with several European groups in Sweden, Germany, France, and Italy are established. Depending on the project outcome and on the applicant interests, the University of Alcalá offers every year an additional grant for short stays abroad (max. 3 months).

Skills Development/Training:
Within the PhD school in Chemistry of the University of Alcalá, the applicant will choose which skills to develop or strengthen, thanks to organized courses. Also, different activities are planned to exchange knowledge and experiences among the PhD students of the different research groups.
