Offer Description
We are seeking one motivated postdoctoral fellow with background in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Chemistry, to develop a tangential flow filtration unit to separate exosomes from biological fluids.
The selected candidate will join the laboratory of Dr. Jesús Santamaría at the Nanostructured Films and Particles (NFP) Research Group, at the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA), University of Zaragoza - Aragón Institute for Health research (IIS Aragón). This position is funded by a HORIZON-ERC-POC call. The project aims to combine nanomaterials and exosome-based therapies to defeat cancer and infectious diseases.
The selected candidate will investigate innovative solutions to purificate exosomes, based on tangential filtration and microfluidic systems and new strategies to load nanoparticles inside the vesiclesSkills/Qualifications sought
• Candidates should have a PhD.
• Previous experience in membrane filtration systems is desirable.
• Other desirable experience may include: microfluidics, control systems, nanoparticle synthesis and characterization
• Previous experience in exosomes is preferred but not required.
• Ability to independently generate hypotheses, design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and effectively communicate findings through presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts.Selection process
Please send a CV,a description of prior research experience, accomplishments, career goals and references with expected availability date in a single PDF file to: Dr. Jesús Santamaria (jesus.santamaria@unizar.es), before June 2024 (expected starting in April-June, 2024).Work Location(s)
Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA), University of Zaragoza, Zaragoza, SpainThe NFP group comprises 21 researchers and 19 PhD students with a very diverse backgrounds (chemical and biomedical) which allows us to develop a multidisciplinary research, with the application of emerging materials in medicine.
INMA is a top institute with advanced characterization facilities as the Advanced Microscopy Laboratory (LMA) a singular infrastructure (ICTS), including instruments for characterization (XPS, VSM, IR, Fluorescence, AFM) and especially several state-of-the-art electron microscopy facilities (SEM, TEM, Titan). The NFP group is also part of the CIBER-BBN (Biomedical Networking Research Centre on Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine). The NANBIOSIS platform CIBER-BBN provides a wide range of services, including advanced bioimaging for real-time monitoring of tumor metabolism. Additionally, IIS Aragón is integrated in the Biomedical Research Centre (CIBA), where facilities are available to us, including genomics, proteomics, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy, pathological anatomy services animal facilities.- ItemID
