PREDOCTORAL CONTRACT OFFER 2023-2024: Pandemic Preparedness

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

• Predoctoral contract in the 2023-2024 call “Ayudas a la Formación de jóvenes Investigadores CEU-Santander”
• The fellow will join the “Pandemic Preparedness” emerging group to conduct his/her *Thesis at the University CEU Cardenal Herrera in the beautiful and multicultural city of Valencia.
• The fellow will learn Molecular Biology, the scientific method and his/her research will contribute to improve human health.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE CANDIDATE

• Be a national of an EU member state or be a foreigner with a residence and work permit (+ Spanish B2 level)
• Spanish title of Life-Science bachelor, graduate with a degree of at least 300 ECTS credits or a completed University Master’s degree (equivalent in case of foreign degrees)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s academic record with a minimum average grade of 7.5/10 (essential requirement).

ABOUT OUR LAB
RNA viruses are the causative agents of all pandemics in the 21st century. Preventing these pandemics is one of the greatest challenges for human health. The high mutagenic capacity of these viruses makes them evolve rapidly and complicates the generation of cross-neutralizing drugs effective for all viral strains. My newly formed laboratory studies RNA viruses, such as Influenza viruses and Coronaviruses, at the molecular level with particular attention to internal proteins that are highly conserved and provide an ideal target for diagnosis methods and the generation of broad-spectrum therapies.
