Looking for candidates for a PhD position__
A PhD position supported by “Agencia Estatal de Investigación” will open soon to work
in the group headed by Oscar Llorca at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre
(CNIO) in Madrid, Spain.
Our research aims to understand the atomic structure and molecular mechanisms of large
macromolecular complexes, with particular interest in several chaperone complexes with
implications in cancer. Our core methodology is cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryoEM) and
image processing, a technology that is revolutionising structural biology and biomedical
research. During the PhD, candidates will be trained in a multidisciplinary and stimulating
environment at CNIO in aspects ranging from biochemistry and molecular biology to
structural biology, image processing and the modelling of atomic structures.
Please visit https://www.cnio.es/en/research-innovation/scientific-programmes/structural-biology-programme/macromolecular-complexes-in-dna-damage-response-group/
for details on our recent research and publications.
We are looking for candidates with an interest in applying to this PhD call, likely to
open sometime after the summer, bearing in mind that the call will impose formal
requirement for applicants. Salaries and other conditions will be defined in the
forthcoming call.
We look for highly motivated individuals with a science degree. Some experience in
biochemistry, structural and molecular biology, and/or CryoEM is highly recommended.
Excellent knowledge of the English language is required.
