- OPEN POSITIONS (MsC, PhD, Postdoc) IN NANOSCOPY FOR CELL BIOLOGY AND BIOPHYSICS IN BARCELONA
- Fecha límite
- 31/12/2018 (or when the positions are filled); for PhD positions: 16th September 2018
- Descripción
The newly formed Intracellular Dynamics and Nanoscopy (IDN) group led by Felix Campelo is offering several positions at the Master's, PhD, and postdoctoral level to work in Cell Biology and Biophysics-related projects.
The IDN group is a young, interdisciplinary group focusing on understanding the molecular and biophysical mechanisms regulating organelle morphology and intracellular dynamics. We combine advanced light microscopy techniques (single-molecule fluorescence and super-resolution nanoscopy) with theoretical biophysics and molecular and cell biology tools to tackle highly controversial or still mysterious fundamental topics in cell biology with a clear pathophysiological relevance. The IDN group works under the umbrella of the Single Molecule Biophotonics (SMB) lab at ICFO–The Institute of Photonic Sciences.
The successful candidates will be involved in an interdisciplinary project, with research being conducted at the interface between biology and physics. For more information on the projects we run in our group and the tools we use to tackle them, please have a look at our website: https://felixcampelo.wixsite.com/home
Eligibility and Conditions
- Both biologists keen to be part of a multidisciplinary team of biologists and physicists, and physicists eager to work in fundamentally important cell biology problems hand-by-hand with biologists are en-couraged to apply. When applicable, candidates must hold an internationally recognized master's degree and/or PhD (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in cell biology, biochemistry, biophysics, physics, chemistry or related areas.
- The candidate should have a proven track record of academic excellence. Positively valued will be experience in cell biology, light microscopy, biophysical modeling and/or computer programming (e.g. Im-ageJ, Matlab, COMSOL).
- No restrictions of citizenship apply to ICFO contracts.
Application procedure
The formal application should be submitted by e-mail to: icfojobs en icfo.eu, with cc to felix.campelo en icfo.eu. Suitable candidates are requested to submit a presentation letter with declaration of research interests; Curriculum Vitae, including a list of publications; and the contact e-mail of three potential referees. For Master students and trainees
We welcome Master students and trainee to join our group. We have open possibilities for minor and major Master research projects.
For PhD Candidates
PhD candidates need to apply through the ICFO PhD program (There is an open call at the moment, with a deadline by 16th of September, 2018, check further calls at phd.icfo.eu). Candidates must contact icfo-jobs en icfo.eu for informal inquiries regarding the application as well as for submitting the application.
For Postdoctoral Researchers
This call will remain open until suitable candidates are identified. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Felix Campelo (felix.campelo@icfo.eu) to discuss possible projects, within the general research lines of our group. The candidates are very welcome to suggest new projects, areas of research, establishment of new techniques or fresh ideas of their application.
