Job description:

Contribute to the development of a novel kind of high temperature thermal energy storage system comprising high temperature molten metals and thermo-photovoltaic power generation devices. The PhD project will be aligned to a European Project called “Next GenerAtion MateriAls and Solid State DevicEs for Ultra High Temperature Energy Storage and Conversion” (AMADEUS) that will start in January 2017. Special focus will be made on the development and characterization of thermo-photovoltaic cells, the simulation of heat transfer in high temperature phase-change materials, along with the realization of proof-of-concept experiments of the complete thermal storage unit. Thus, a multidisciplinary approach (solid state physics, semiconductor devices, metallurgy, thermal engineering, heat transfer, optics, etc.) will be required. The candidate is expected to publish high impact-factor journal articles and present the work at international conferences.

Candidate requirements:

- Finished Master studies after 2012.
- Very high BsC & MsC mark (above 8/10).
- Degree in Physics or Engineering.
- High level of english
- Knowledge of Spanish language will be a plus.
