Introduction:
The https://www.uchceu.es/grupos-lineas-investigacion/investigacion-de-enfermedades-cardiorenales-y-metabolicas-idecam" class="wiki wikinew text-danger tips">Research Group on Cardiorenal and Metabolic Diseases (IDECAM) at CEU Cardenal Herrera University, led by the doctors Luis D'Marco, Ana Checa and Pablo Abellán, is devoted to the study of various interactions between the pathophysiology of cardiorenal disease, diabetes, obesity and renal replacement therapy. We aim to identify new specific biomarkers and therapeutic targets for the benefit of these chronic diseases.
Research Lines:
I. Exploration of the Organ-Specific Adipose Tissue in Patients with Cardiorenal Disease:
We are focusing on understanding the role of the adipose tissue in the physiopathology of cardiorenal diseases. We intend to identify risk factors specifically related to the perirenal and epicardial adipose tissue, which may serve to unveil new therapeutic strategies.
II. Pleiotropic Effects of New Therapeutic Options on Diabetes Mellitus and Arterial Hypertension:
We are investigating the unconventional effects of emerging therapies in diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension. Our goal is to understand how these therapies can influence other aspects of health beyond their primary goal, in order to develop more effective and personalized treatments.
III. Melatonin as an Anti-inflammatory and Antioxidant Protective Factor in Patients with Dialysis:
We are keen to assess the role of melatonin as a protective agent against inflammation and oxidative stress in patients undergoing dialysis. We seek to understand the mechanisms underpinning the therapeutic potential of melatonin in this population.Your Profile:
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with experience in areas related to cardiovascular and renal pathophysiology, diabetes, obesity, and high blood pressure or vascular damage. This call, therefore, is extended to graduates in Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing) or Biomedical Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology).
The ability to carry out interdisciplinary research, as well as the experience in laboratory techniques (ELISA-type immunoassay and qPCR-type genomics) and data analysis (Big Data) will be highly valued.Your Job:
The successful candidate will work within our research group to address key questions in our lines of research. The objectives of the doctorate will include carrying out experimental studies, sample processing, data analysis, writing scientific articles and disseminating results in national and international scientific conferences.Contact:
