A PhD opportunity in medical applications of modern inorganic chemistry is available at CIC biomaGUNE in San Sebastian starting in February 2011.
The successful candidate will be joining a team seeking to develop new inorganic nanomaterials for biological and medical applications. The goal of this research project will be to exploit synergy and molecular teamwork between new types of inorganic nanoparticles and metal complexes to create intelligent and efficient anticancer systems.
The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in chemistry or relevant physical or biological science and will have a strong academic track record, good communication skills, enthusiasm and interest in carrying out research of the highest quality.
CIC biomaGUNE is a newly established centre developing interdisciplinary research in biofunctional nanomaterials, biosurfaces and molecular imaging. The infrastructure of the centre has been designed, constructed and equipped to carry out ambitious research projects and to develop innovative applications in the areas of Functional Pre-Clinical and Molecular Imaging and in Nanomedicine. For this, it provides a research environment/conditions and equipment which are unique in Spain and among the best in Europe.
The position offers the opportunity of working in a highly competitive and interdisciplinary project in a dynamic, friendly and collaborative environment with access to unique research support infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment. This is a 4-year studentship with the possibility of spending part of the PhD in a different country.
