PhD Studentship in Intelligent Systems applied to Mobility
DeustoTech invites applications for a studentship in the field of Intelligent Systems.
Number of vacancies: 2
The PhD studentship includes, partial tuition fees, plus a non-taxable subsistence allowance, of 16.000€ per year. The duration is 3 years. It is open to worldwide research applicants.
Deusto Institute of Technology (DeustoTech), located in Bilbao, Basque Country (Spain), is a Research Institute belonging to the University of Deusto and created with the mission of conducting basic and applied research in computer science and information technologies, addressing technology transfer and support to companies, and fostering training and education excellence.
The research proposed will focus on the simulation and implementation of fuzzy rule based systems for managing decisions in the field of intelligent mobility.
In addition, bio-inspired optimization techniques must be implemented with the aim of tuning such decision systems.
Multi-objective techniques will be used to obtain a proper trade-off between efficiency and simplicity in the fuzzy rule based systems, in order to make them easy to understand by a traffic operator and to provide responses with low computational cost, in order to open the field to the future real implementations.
Candidates should have a first class or good 2.1 honours degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science. An appropriate degree at Masters Level will be mandatory. Proficiency in spoken and written English is desired; knowledge of Spanish is not a requirement. All qualified candidates will be considered.
