The Institute:
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an innovative centre for basic research created in December 2000 by initiative of the former Department of Universities, Research and Information Society (DURSI) of the Catalan Government. The CRG is legally constituted as a non-profit foundation and has the participation from the Catalan Government through the Economy and Knowledge Department (DECO) and the Health Department (DS), as well as from the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN).

Post Description:

Our group is interested in the regulation of mRNA translation by RNA-binding proteins and by elongation of the mRNA poly(A) tail. The position is to study the role of Dicer, an RNA-binding protein essential for RNA interference, in cytoplasmic polyadenylation. A combination of Drosophila methods and research in mammalian cells will be used. For more information, please visit our web site within the CRG.

Candidate requirements:

• Candidates may be of any nationality.
• Candidates should hold a degree in any of the following disciplines: Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacology, Biotechnology, Biomedicine.
• Candidates must have some experience in Molecular Biology techniques. Experience in manipulation of Drosophila or in Cell Biology is desirable but not essential.
• The applicants are expected to be at the time of recruitment in their first 4 years of their research career.
• Optimally, candidates should have a Master’s degree (or equivalent qualifications required for entrance into the PhD program). Early recruitment in order to perform a Masters Thesis might be considered.
• Candidates should be fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Candidates are expected to be highly motivated with enormous passion and initiative for scientific research.
• Capable of working in a team, but with a strong ability to plan and work on an independent project.
