The MiTo lab-UGR (http://wdb.ugr.es/~luisca/) is located in the new CIBM (http://cibm.ugr.es/) of the University of Granada at the PTS-Granada. The CIBM employs groups of highly qualified researchers and aims to put the autonomous region of Andalusia at the forefront of biomedical research in Europe. The Centre houses the first Stem Cell Bank in Spain and research groups from the following organizations have their headquarters in the CIBM: Biotechnology Institute, Federico Olóriz Neuroscience Institute, Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology, and Institute of Biopathology and Regenerative Medicine.

The research conducted in the MiTo lab is geared toward elucidating the pathomechanisms of mitochondrial disorders and mitochondrial-related diseases, in order to develop new and effective therapeutic strategies for these fatal diseases.

Our group is now looking for a postdoctoral candidate to join a new project funded by MINECO in order to evaluate different pharmacological, cellular and genetic therapies in a mouse model of severe mitochondrial encephalopathy.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Required skills:
o The candidate has to possess a PhD in biosciences – biomedicine. PhD title obtained between January 2015 and June 2015 (only if the PhD title has been obtained outside of the University of Granada); or between January 2012 and end of 2014 (no University restriction in this case). Other situations can be also considered.

o Strong background in Biomedical research. Experience in mitochondrial biology, mitochondrial medicine and cellular-gene therapy fields will be an advantage.

o Good publications record.

o Proven experience in working with animal models, as well as cellular and molecular biology.

o Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.

o Strong sense of responsibility, initiative and self-motivation as key personal abilities.
