The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL, http://inl.int/) in Braga, Portugal, seeks a highly qualified, self-motivated post-doctoral researcher to join the group of Soft Self-assembled Nanostructures. The position is for the project Functionalized Nanoporous Materials, and annually renewable up to 3 years.
Porous organic materials can find application in a wide variety of areas, such as catalysis, sensors, gas storage, and optoelectronics. To customize the properties of these materials in order to target a specific application, methods to furnish the pores with functionalities are desirable. The goal of this project is the development of functionalized framework materials and their application in sensing and recognition.
The group of Soft Self-assembled Nanostructures of INL welcomes applicants with previous experience in chemistry of organic materials and materials characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, porosimetry by gas adsorption/desorption, Thermogravimetry, Spectroscopy and Electron Microscopy (SEM, TEM). Experience in preparation of organic thin films will be positively evaluated. Familiarity with organic synthesis is an asset, but not mandatory.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field. The applicant should have strong enthusiasm for work, excellent communication skills in English and a good track-record for disseminating results to scientific community.
Applications, including a CV and a letter of intent, should be submitted on the INL website http://inl.int/job_offers no later than 01 November 2013.
