Duties
A post doc position is now open for a highly motivated scientist with a strong background in virology and cell biology. The project focuses on understanding how cytomegalovirus (CMV) contributes to cancer. The applicant will be working on a collaborative basic science project of groups of professor Cecilia Söderberg-Nauclér at the Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, and professor Jiri Bartek, at the Danish Cancer Society Research Center, Copenhagen. The major aim of this work is to understand, in mechanistic terms, how does CMV subvert the normal cellular pathways and promotes cell transformation. These studies will involve cell and molecular biology and virology approaches and analyses of cell phenotypes, especially in human cell culture and xenografts. Emphasis will be on major cancer-related, stem-cell and genome-integrity pathways and their aberrations, and their engagement and relevance for the CMV-triggered tumorigenesis. Both host laboratories and institutes offer a very stimulating, internationally highly competitive environment, and state-of-the art technologies and teams of experts.

Entry requirements
Applicants should have a strong background in virology and or cell biology. Work within the areas for the announcement is strongly considered as an additional qualification.

A person is eligible for a postdoc position if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
