A postdoctoral position in nano/bio medicine is available at CIC biomaGUNE in San Sebastian starting in February 2011.
The successful candidate will be joining a team seeking to develop new inorganic nanomaterials for biological and medical applications. The goal of this research project will be to investigate if and how new types of inorganic nanoparticles can be engineered to safely trigger controllable immune responses which could then be used to provide protection against infectious diseases and/or cancer.
The successful candidate will be someone with an excellent research/academic track record and hands-on experience in several of the following areas: nanoparticle synthesis, materials characterisation, expression and/or modification of biomolecules, cell culture, ELISA, flow cytrometry, in vitro and/or in vivo imaging (e.g. confocal, MRI, PET). He/she must be able to speak and write in English and will be expected to conduct research independently.
CIC biomaGUNE is a newly established centre developing interdisciplinary research in biofunctional nanomaterials, biosurfaces and molecular imaging. The infrastructure of the centre has been designed, constructed and equipped to carry out ambitious cutting-edge research projects and to develop innovative applications in the areas of Functional Pre-Clinical and Molecular Imaging and in Nanomedicine. For this, it provides a research environment/conditions and equipment which are unique in Spain and among the best in Europe.
